What is Caffeine?
According to wikipedia, caffeine is “is a xanthine alkaloid compound that acts as a psychoactive stimulant and a mild diuretic at doses higher than 300 mg." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caffeine).
Unless you are a student in med school – which also would be a great reason for visiting this site – the statement above probably meant absolutely nothing to you. Caffeine, for all intents and purposes, is what students use to maintain sanity and function in the greater world of college.
Has any of this ever
happened to you?
- It’s 3am and I have a 10-page paper due at 8am that I haven’t started...
- I have an exam tomorrow covering 6 chapters and I’ve been studying in the library all day, but for some reason I can’t seem to get past the fifth line on page 2...
- I have an assignment due by midnight that I start promptly at 11:56pm...

The woes of
procrastination
We all do it. And with the help of caffeine, or caffeine-like substitutes, we somehow get by. This site has a few of my favorite café locations around NYU’s campus that may help even the most expert procrastinator meet his deadline.
